We have spent a lovely weekend in Italy, celebrating the new year. Since Milan is only a 1h40min train ride away from Switzerland, we often choose this wonderful city for weekend and shopping trips. 🇮🇹 Sparkling NYE in Milan at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele ✨ This picture shows the Galleria Vittoria Emanuele which is one of the oldest shopping malls in the world. The mall is housed within a four-story double arcade in the city center and it is named Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy.

There are actually plenty of options for celebrating NYE in Milan. We have chosen the classic rather than the wild options 🙂 We spend the day shopping and strolling around the city center. The Italians call their NYE “Capodanno” which is very much linked to strong traditions from the past and it mostly includes a lot of food 🙂 We enjoyed our so-called and famous San Silvestro dinner (cenone di San Silvestro) at a local restaurant called “Osteria di Brera” which was recommended to us by a local friend. It’s crazy, but the dinner actually lasted many hours almost until midnight! Bear in mind, reservations is a must on NYE since almost 80% of all restaurants are closed.

It’s All So YUMMY! Salsamenteria di Parma – delicious, authentic and simply Italian. 🇮🇹 It’s a very quaint little place, but the food is absolutely delicious. Since we were so hungry, we wanted to try everything 😋 Our favorites: platter of parmigiano-reggiano cheese, prosciutto di Parma 24 months and mozzarella di bufala, Bruschetta pesto e pomodorini, fried polenta with gorgonzola and Gnocchi di patate al pesto. Yumm yumm yumm 😍️ btw: The wine is served out of bowls instead of glasses 🍷. It’s definitely worth a try when in Milan.
